Summer Learning at Joyful Academy of Music
Learning music is like learning a language, and exercising that language regularly ensures continued growth! This is similar to how students are encouraged to continue reading and practicing math skills over summer breaks.
We offer and encourage music lessons during the summer! Some students have a goal to grow rapidly with more time to practice in the summer, try another instrument, or take lessons twice a week! Other students are excited to explore fun music topics and experiences in camp settings!

We know that summers can be restful, exciting, and full of adventures. AND we want to give you maximum flexibility for your family’s summer schedule and fun!
Help support your teachers
this summer
We want to be able to continue to provide for our wonderful music teachers financially during the summer months. We do not want them to have to look for another job and not be able to teach during the fall.
Option 1
Regular Lessons
Continue regular weekly lessons! Or receive up to 8 makeup lesson credits! Students who continue weekly lessons or plan to receive makeup lesson credits will receive priority scheduling for Fall Lessons.
Option 2
1 Camp + Lessons
1 Camp and 4 Lessons (We have 4-day camps Monday-Thursday mornings from 10:00-12:00
Option 3
2+ Camps
Summer Camp Fun! If you are traveling a lot this summer, you are invited to come to 2 weeks or eight days of summer music camps instead of coming to weekly lessons. You may not be guaranteed your same Fall lesson time. However, you will receive priority in scheduling at the end of August before the new September students.
For students choosing Option 1, 2, or 3, you are welcome to add on more camps.
Option 4
Pausing lessons
Families can choose to prepay for the month they plan to resume lessons.
For example, if you will be gone in July, you can prepay for August on July 1st. Then resume lessons in August. Your next music tuition will be due on September 1st.
Or if you want to pause lessons for both July and August, you can prepay on July 1st, then resume lessons in September and your next music tuition will be due in October.
Students who pause lessons are invited to come for a pro-rated check-in music lesson anytime they are available during the summer.
Please let us know by May 15th which summer lesson option works best for your family. If we do not hear from you, we will assume that you are choosing Option One and will be continuing regular weekly music lessons during the summer or you are planning to cancel lessons and receive make-up lesson credits.

Going on vacation? Need to take a summer break?
If your family would like to take a break from coming to weekly lessons in July and/or August, your family can still continue your music membership and receive make-up lesson credits to be scheduled during the year! You will also still receive priority scheduling for fall lessons.
